The North Star Journey: Chapter 5

The North Star Journey: Chapter 5

When I started my business, I had to set it up.

Everything from the site to taxes, client contracts to software and yes, I needed great website design too!

I didn’t know what I didn’t know.

That’s the case with most people! Websites are no different.

There are so many things great website design can do for you, but only if you know where to start.

Big Business Dreams

You’ve got a dream for your business, and you want to share it with the world. But how can you do that?

Remember, your website is probably one of the first interactions someone will have with you.

On a recent call, my client shared with me this short story about ordering lunch.

“Last fall I got off a plane coming home from a wedding and, as usual, I was running late and didn’t have time to eat before my flight. When I landed my ride was already waiting for me. It would be another two hours before I got home and I was STARVING. I wanted to order takeout from a fav restaurant but when I tried finding a menu online, there wasn’t one. I was set on getting food from this place so I spent half the drive home searching through Google, Yelp, and Facebook trying to find some semblance of a menu.

Finally, I just gave up and settled for something from the first place google fed me (no pun intended). And it was then I realized this was the experience people were probably having to look for me, I’ve no website, no Facebook page, no google listing, I just don’t exist to new customers!!!”

Help Customers Find You

Do you exist to new customers?

Can they find what they need on your site?

Do you know what they need?

When I work with my clients, it’s a collaboration.

It’s not about shoehorning you in to the latest fad.

I believe in providing success for my clients, a success for my employees and contractors, and a success for my client’s clients who are interacting with the site. It’s my take on conscious capitalism.

We help you figure out not only what needs to be updated or what tech you need, but also what needs to be on the site. How the site can be a useful tool and resource in your business.

You might need a scheduler,

A price sheet, A list of services,

A CMS, A CRM,

But, I’m a big proponent of ‘just enough tech, I don’t want to load you up with solutions or tech unnecessarily.

That’s why I have an entire process in place to work with clients! It includes collaboration calls, tech breakdowns, and can include training your people to maintain the website content.

I want to cut down on what you need to know. Check out this article I wrote on what a website for a small business should do.

In the final installment of this “The North Star Journey” series, I’ll show you how working with an expert can help you figure out next steps and all the things you don’t know that could help your business.

Onwards,
